Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Orlando, FL

This 550 acre animal inspired theme park in Orlando, FL set a new standard for habitat re-creation, visitor immersion, and cultural resonance while advancing animal holding building design to new levels. Pat Janikowski and Jim Brighton, as independent consultants, took lead roles in designing animal exhibits, and holding buildings. The scope of work included over 300 acres of animal habitat and 30 animal management buildings for species as diverse as Naked Mole Rat and African Elephant.

PJA was subsequently contracted to design a Conservation Center and the first expansions to the park, Asian Trek and Animal Kingdom Lodge.
