- PJA would like to congratulate zoo
president Donna Fernandes and the Buffalo Zoo staff on the opening
of their new "M&T Bank Rainforest Falls" exhibit. This is the
fourth project PJA has worked on at the Buffalo Zoo. The
$16 million Rainforest Building is the newest addition
to the zoo's $75 million reconstruction based on the PJA
masterplan.
- Pat Janikowski, along with Rick Barongi,
director of the Houston Zoo, presented a paper on the
recently completed elephant house & exhibit at the AZA
National Convention in Milwaukee, WI. The elephant barn and
exhibit are Phase I of a three-phase expansion of the zoo's
elephant program.
- At the annual AZCARM Conference in Guadalajara, Mexico, Jim Brighton will hold
a half-day interactive workshop on zoo master planning.
The participants will complete a case study master plan for an actual site.
- Monika Lange will give a presentation about
sculptures in zoos and botanical gardens at the National Association of
Interpretation's National Workshop in Portland, OR.
